Just a couple of things

This is what I have been working on for the past week in the little spare time that I have.  This is a Victorian Style heart that I made with a spray of Silk Ribbon Embroidery (SRE) Roses on each side of the heart.  A Victorian Photograph that I printed out and then cut out the lady.  She is perched in the pocket and looks like she is sitting comfortably.  There are more Silk Ribbon Embroidery Roses on the pocket and on the hearts that are spilling out of the pocket.  I had some beaded string which I sewed to the hearts as a border.

The following are ornaments that I made for my Victorian Style Christmas tree.  They are a crochet pineapple design and then I added flowers and ribbon.  They look beautiful on the tree and fit in very nicely with all of my other Victorian Decorations.

Old Crazy Quilt

The following pictures are of a Crazy Quilt that I purchased at an antique store a few years ago.  It is in very bad shape as you can see.  It had a lot of interesting motifs on it and it was only $8.00, so I bought it.  The colors of the threads look like they are washed out but I still love the look of it.  I love the colors and the wool fabrics.

Thanksgiving theme

I got the idea for this, from decorations that I saw in an antique store.  It is made with felt and I used embroidery stitches to embellish it.  I think the kitty looks quite proud of himself, sitting on a pumpkin.

I took this one with the flash on.  It gives it a different look.  The next three are the different angles with the flash off.  It took the glare off and gives a truer view of the colors.

The Etc. Part of Crazy Quilting

I am on a roll.  I am doing better than I thought I would... my third posting.... Wow!  I wasn't able to work on my crazy quilting projects but I have noticed that this blog makes me want to do more, so that I will have items to post.

Since I didn't have any crazy quilting to display, I thought that I would post some other projects that I have done.  This is a set of doilies that I made over the summer.  The design is from Leisure Arts Leaflet 2177 "Pineapple Doilies".  The instructions were very easy to follow.  I just had to make sure I marked where I left off when I set it down.  Otherwise, it took me a while to figure out which row I was on to continue the pattern.  I am very happy with how they turned out and I love the pineapple design.  I am torn as to whether I will keep them or give them away as a gift.

My Second Day...Let's See How Long This Lasts

This is what I have completed on the block so far.
This is a closer look at the left side.  I need to give my frog some eyes.  I found the idea for the mosquito at Mary Corbet's Needle N Thread http://www.needlenthread.com/2008/09/breath-of-spring-embroidery-project-fun.html  I think he came out pretty good.  Makes me want to swat at him.
This is the right side.  I think that I am going to put some bees in the upper right corner above the cattails.  Then I want to add some highlights to the bass.  I am nervous about doing this because I don't want to ruin it.  If I don't put the right amount it will look silly and if I add too much then it will look overdone.  I need to find just the right places to put my highlights.  Hmmm, makes me want to procrastinate some more!

Thought I would give it a try!

After many months of viewing all the wonderful blogs about crazy quilting, embroidery and other crafts, I thought that I might try my hand at starting my own blog.  My schedule is very busy and doesn't leave much time for the things I enjoy, so I don't know how well I will keep up with blogging.... but I'll give it a shot.

I look forward to sharing my own creations and hope that others enjoy it as much as I've enjoyed reading all of the wonderful sites that have inspired me.

This is a crazy quilt block that I put together for a room that I have designed with a Lake Theme.  I thought this would be a nice addition to the room.  I will add more pictures of the updated piece soon.
